Gandhi’s Top 10 Fundamentals for Changing the World

“You must not lose faith in humanity. Humanity is an ocean; if a few drops of the ocean are dirty, the ocean does not become dirty.”

“The difference between what we do and what we are capable of doing would suffice to solve most of the world’s problem.”

“If I had no sense of humor, I would long ago have committed suicide.”

Mahatma Gandhi needs no long introduction. Everyone knows about the man who lead the Indian people to independence from British rule in 1947.

I came across a blog that listed Gandhi’s Top 10 Fundamentals for Changing the World.

1. Change
“You must be the change you want to see in the world.”
“As human beings, our greatness lies not so much in being able to remake the world – that is the myth of the atomic age – as in being able to remake ourselves.”

2. Control.
“Nobody can hurt me without my permission.”

3. Forgiveness
“The weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is the attribute of the strong.”
“An eye for eye only ends up making the whole world blind.”

4. Action.
“An ounce of practice is worth more than tons of preaching.”

5. The present moment.
“I do not want to foresee the future. I am concerned with taking care of the present. God has given me no control over the moment following.”

6. Everyone is human.
“I claim to be a simple individual liable to err like any other fellow mortal. I own, however, that I have humility enough to confess my errors and to retrace my steps.”
“It is unwise to be too sure of one’s own wisdom. It is healthy to be reminded that the strongest might weaken and the wisest might err.”

7. Persist.
“First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win.”

8. Goodness.
“I look only to the good qualities of men. Not being faultless myself, I won’t presume to probe into the faults of others.”
“I suppose leadership at one time meant muscles; but today it means getting along with people.”

9. Truth
“Happiness is when what you think, what you say, and what you do are in harmony.”
“Always aim at complete harmony of thought and word and deed. Always aim at purifying your thoughts and everything will be well.”

10. Development.
“Constant development is the law of life, and a man who always tries to maintain his dogmas in order to appear consistent drives himself into a false position.”

Dutch style on the wing

Juventus Football Club S.p.A. announces that the agreement with Hamburger Sport-Verein e.V. for the definitive acquisition of the registration rights of the Dutch player Eljero Elia has been finalized.
A modern and versatile winger, capable of playing on both flanks displaying the same confidence. At just 24 years of age, Elijero George Rinaldo Elia has already enjoyed a notable career, with his World Cup runners up medal in South Africa proving to be the highlight up until now. He began his youth career with Den Haag and then moved to the famed Ajax setup where he made his first competitive start at 17, before transferring to Twente in 2007. Two years later, Elia graced the Bundesliga with Hamburg.
The winger’s career took off in Germany, confirming himself as one of the most coveted attacking midfielders in Europe, making his debut for the national team and courting the attentions of a host of prestigious outfits throughout Europe. His choice was Juventus, arriving to strengthen the attacking options available to Antonio Conte.

The Cadillac Ciel Concept Car

Revealed at the 2011 Pebble Beach Concours D’Elegance was Cadillac’s new concept car, Ciel (French for sky). The 4-door convertible Cadillac Ciel is not likely to make it to production, however there have been rumors of a slight rendition. This model has an extended list of luxurious features such as a small humidor for cigars, a cashmere blanket stored near the headrests in the rear seat, and Italian olive wood used throughout the cabin to name a few. There are carbon ceramic brake rotors that peek from behind the 22 inch rims and underneath the hood houses a 3.6L V-6 engine with twin turbochargers complete with a hybrid low speed all electric transmission, pushing a total of 425 horsepower. Some have speculated that it has a slight resemblance to the 4th generation Lincoln Continental, complete with suicide electric doors. What do you think?

Dirty Hands: The Art & Crimes of David Choe

Dirty Hands: The Art & Crimes of David Choe won Grand Jury Prize at the San Diego Asian Film Festival (Grand Jury Prize winner!).
The fully streamed movie is available now through Upper Playground at www.upperplayground.com/dirty-hands-movie

-------------------------------------

"The film is about as indulgent as Choe is, rampaging around the globe and its subjects mind and defying common convention, much like the artist himself. But there are moments of bliss, such as the moment when Choe, with a spray can in each hand, executes with ambidextrous virtuosity an ornate face on a blank white wall. It may be illegal, but its exhilarating." - Variety
