GQ has bestowed the honor of Designer of the Year on
38-year-old wunderkind Riccardo Tisci – who has been lauded as both a saving grace and creative luminary for Givenchy.

Playfully dubbing him the man who “got Kanye West to wear a skirt,” the in-depth profile finds writer Molly Young traveling to Paris where she linked up with Tisci at Givenchy’s offices on Rue Montaigne.

"In person, Tisci is swarthily handsome but untidily groomed, with a little paunch. If you’ve seen Tisci’s somberly erotic runway output, you might picture some kind of holy weirdo sketching by oil lamp behind the scenes. But in person the designer is a sweetheart. He mentions his eight elder sisters constantly, and no wonder: Tisci’s primary trait is what can only be described as “younger-brother-ness”—coddled sweetness plus warmth plus the boyish quality of being excitable, which all makes a great antivenom for pretentiousness. Winged House by K2LD Architects

The Winged House is a remarkably triangular private residence located on the tropical island of Singapore. Its architectural frame features two adjacent trapeziums on a triangulated plot of land. These embracing forms open towards lush greenery at the back of the site, at the same time carving out a cozy private garden in the middle. Inspired by traditional Malay housing, the folding trapeziums let in fresh air for relief from tropical heat while the extended eaves provide shelter and shade from seasonal downpours. An airy living room is flanked by granite feature walls, providing heavy contrast against the lighter timber used throughout the rest of the house. This house is the proud design work of local firm K2LD Architects.

Apple’s iPhone 5 Available September 21st + New iPod Touch, iPod Nano, and EarPods

Another year, another iPhone. Apple just announced they’re latest and greatest iPhone 5, which looks similar to the 4S of last year, but is taller with a larger 4 inch display, has a metal back, and is touted as the thinnest smartphone ever made. The iPhone 5 boasts a host of new hardware and software features such as the iOS 6 operating system, an 8-megapixel back camera FaceTime HD front camera, LTE, the Apple A6 chip, and new lightning connector. It’s available in black and white and priced at $199 for 16GB, $299 for 32GB, and $399 for 64GB on a 2 year contract. You’ll be able to get your hands on the new iPhone 5 on September 21st, however pre-orders start on September 14th. Apple also introduced a new iPod Touch ($299/32GB, $399/64GB), iPod Nano ($149/16GB ), iTunes 11, and new EarPods headphones. Are you buying the new iPhone 5?

If you’ve followed Pharrell Williams for some time or read up on any of his interviews through the years, you’ve seen an individual and artist develop over time into a deeply introspective and visionary type persona. For his recent interview with Bullett Media‘s Jada Yuan, Williams opens up quite an eloquent dialogue in which he delves into such things as his appreciation for women, his new pink liquor, “Qream” (also an all-but-subtle nod to the women in his life) as well as his various accolades, projects and endeavors from past to present. The incredibly well-written piece expounds on Pharrell Williams the artist to paint a decidedly more personal picture of a man who is less of an attention seeker and more a compliment giver. Less caught up in the spotlight, and more focused on theoretical questions about life, creativity and existence. "Williams likes to tell the story of how he lost his virginity at 16 to an older woman. “I didn’t lose it,” he clarifies. “I gave it away. I know exactly where it is.” He’s had a lifelong fascination with older women, he says, “because I used to look at my teachers. There were several high school teachers I wanted to have my way with.” He didn’t actually get with them, but says, “I mean, that would have been awesome.” He did, however, find other older women to suit his particular desires. “I had fun with those really good cougars, dude. They had that quiet purr that you just feel.” He likens his time with these women to Ralph Macchio’s training sequences in The Karate Kid. “That kid didn’t feel like washing the car, but he had no idea that was going to protect him one day. A lot of it, I was like, So this is how you play chess? Okay, cool, let’s go to bed. I didn’t know they’d teach me how to treat women, but they did. They taught me how to talk to girls, how to speak to them, like a specific language.”

If he could give younger guys one bit of advice, it would be: “If you kiss her mind, her body will follow.” Growing up, he says, “I made so many mistakes. I messed things up so badly, just by being young and growing up so fast. I’ve since learned a lot about pacing, not just with women, but also in life in general.” This doesn’t mean, however, that he thinks guys should hold off on sex. “I applaud those who have the willpower to do it. But I’m a different kind of kid.” Instead of seeing sex as sacred, perhaps we should hold “time as the ultimate sacred thing.” He wants to know if I have silly, arbitrary rules about how many dates to wait for sex (I don’t), or if I’ve ever had “a one-off thing with someone and forgot the dude’s name” (I have). “Mistakes are lessons,” he says, with a warm, accepting smile. “I don’t think there are too many things that you regret, outside of your own judgment.” What women regret about having sex with a guy on the second date who never calls her again is not the time frame, but sleeping with someone who isn’t worthy. Then again, you could wait two years to have sex, only to find out he’s a cheat. “It’s like buying a big, awful, distasteful home. You might have 30,000 square feet, but it’s shit. You have terrible doorknobs. The windows are 20 years old. It’s not how much, it’s how great. Quality over quantity. Life is fleeting. You can always have sex again.” I leave, head reeling, with a sudden urge to clean my apartment."

Zaha Hadid’s Luxury Z Speedboat by Shoreteam

London-based, Baghdad-born architect Zaha Hadid has teamed up with France-based Shoreteam to create the Luxury Z for London-based writer and art dealer Kenny Schachter. Commissioned by Schachter for his Rove Projects, the unique speedboat measures around eight meters in length and is meant to be an artistic expression of individualism with a stealthy asymmetrical design courtesy of fiberglass and carbon fiber construction. Limited to only 12 production models, the Luxury Z is set to go on sale sometime in early 2013 with a retail price around €375,000 EUR (approximately $460,459 USD).

Professional boxing icon and social activist Muhammad Ali has stepped up to endorse a brand new campaign from high fashion giant Louis Vuitton titled, “Core Values.” In the effort of depicting an outstanding personality while reflecting on the idea of transmission from one generation to the next, a captivating portrait is presented featuring The People’s Champion and one of his grandsons. Ali’s Arizona home is the setting for this exemplary pairing between himself and the fashion house; included is a tag-line stating “Some stars show you the way. Muham­mad Ali and a ris­ing star.” Further adding to the uniqueness and prestige of the campaign, photography was done by Annie Leibovitz.

Jay-Z & Kanye West Perform “N****s In Paris” Eleven Times in Paris Video

As expected, amidst the festivities at Jay-Z and Kanye West’s Watch the Throne tour stop through the city of Paris, the duo performed their famous single, “N****s In Paris” a multitude of times, this go around repeating the anthem an amazing 11 times. Following the track’s performance, Jay-Z would go on to thank the Parisian crowd for their part in the inspiration for the song as well as for being the “loudest” crowd of the tour thus far.

PES 2013 Official Game Trailer

Once the king of the hill for soccer games, Konami‘s PES/Winning 11 has seen stiff competition in the last few years at the hands of EA Sports’ FIFA franchise. Looking to once again establish itself as the top dog, a trailer emerges for PES 2013. Combining fluid gameplay with precision controls, the trailer provides some strong visuals. Marquee players are presented in fine form including arguably soccer’s most disliked maestro – Barton aside – Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Real Madrid pair Cristiano Ronaldo and Kaka, wonderkid Neymar and Atletico Mineiro’s latest signing, Ronaldinho. Despite the realism of the game, FIFA 13 may have trumped PES with its new in-game feature which allows voice commands to be used to argue ref calls. H2 by 314 Architecture Studio

Despite the economic woes of Greece, H2 by 314 Architecture Studio creates a comfortable and creative abode situated outside of Athens. The three-story building boasts three individual apartments comprised by three bedrooms, inclusive of one master bedroom. Ample lighting through the atrium also includes further bioclimate-based designs ensuring energy savings with a water-induced cooling system. The overall harmonious feel of the space comes courtesy of carefully-chosen colors which is capped off with both a beautiful swimming pool and a view of the Argosaronic Sea.

Nike Air Yeezy 2

Forging a new form of sport craftsmanship, the Nike Air Yeezy II blends classic Nike court breakthroughs with the performance and aesthetic demands of bringing hype to a crowd of thousands. A primal, tactile approach to technology runs throughout every element of the shoe. Armored animalistic forms imbue the upper. Hand-skived anaconda textured leather quarter panels are embellished with a debossed Vac-Tech Nike Swoosh. The molded rear is sculpted with a reptilian-inspired spike, while an engineered strap with scaled-down spikes was developed to offer a greater sense of symmetry and lock-down. Bringing the inspiration forward from the late 1980s basketball foundation of the original Nike Air Yeezy, the II is built on the Nike Air Tech Challenge II tennis shoe outsole and celebrates iconic Nike Cross Training silhouettes with the addition of the molded forefoot strap.

There’s absolute function at the Air Yeezy II’s core. Unnecessary padding was eliminated, and the foot-hugging tongue and plush collar are both comfortable and breathable. Fit was essential to the design with the goal to make the shoe slimmer than the original by tailoring it to Kanye West’s foot. The collar was also lowered to allow for greater movement. An obsessive approach to materials results in a luxurious mix of leather, rugged ballistic nylon and soft nubuck. Concealed but opulent details reference ancient civilizations, including a loop strap with hieroglyphics that spell out ‘YZY.’ Each screw-on lace aglet is obelisk-shaped, and the anaconda texture is echoed on the eyelets and leather lace toggle that carries the Roman numeral ‘II.’

The Nike Air Yeezy II in both Platinum and Black editions will release June 9 in limited numbers, at select global retailers.
