Louis Vuitton Spring/Summer 2012 Backpack

One of my favorite pieces from the upcoming Louis Vuitton Spring/Summer 2012 Collection is the above backpack. Mixing both safari, heritage and modern looks, this new large size backpack from the French luxury brand is stylish and functional. We appreciate the tonal application of the monogram, we would have taken it as well without monogram actually. The mix of leathers, canvas and nylon work well on the backpack and make it stand out at the same time.

Ryan Hope: Permanent Ink

A Film for Dasha Zhukova's Garage Magazine Reveals the Passion Driving the Tattoo Scene

Internationally renowned tattooist Mo Coppoletta divulges the personal significances of being inked in this intricate profile by filmmaker Ryan Hope. Owner of influential London parlor A Family Business, Coppoletta has turned his dedication into a lifestyle, making international pilgrimages to be tattooed by those at the pinnacle of the craft. “For me the key to a brilliant documentary is to tell it through a brilliant character,” says Hope. “Mo has an amazing technique and dedication, he is an absolute purist. His energy and his style are beautiful.” Today’s short is an exclusive extract from Hope’s documentary Skin, which follows five skin-art collectors on their journey to be tattooed with designs created by major contemporary artists Damien Hirst, Jeff Koons, Raymond Pettibon, Jake and Dinos Chapman, and Richard Prince. Originally commissioned to accompany a Hedi Slimane photo shoot featuring the contemporary artists and collectors for Dasha Zhukova's Garage magazine, Hope redeveloped the original concept. “It seemed more interesting to tell the subject's story, rather than that of the artists themselves,” he says.

Is Designer Raf Simons Joining Dior?

Rumors are out and we can only hope they’re true. Belgian designer Raf Simons and Christian Dior are rumored to be closing in on a deal that will make Simons creative director, according to WWD. Dior has done away with their previous creative director, John Galliano, after his arrest in Paris for racial misconduct. However, the French fashion house has continued to release ready-to-wear pieces while searching for Galliano’s replacement.

Raf Simons has shown his ability to produce flawless women apparel through his Jil Sanders collection, but what should we expect at Dior? If rumors are true, will he remain subtle and basic or stretch to suit what viewers are used to seeing from Galliano’s flamboyant runway shows? We can only wait and see what happens.

Drop Culture: Bespoke by Duncan Quinn

Just about eight years ago, bespoke suit designer Duncan Quinn opened his first boutique that houses his namesake line right at Nolita – a charming neighborhood in the borough of Manhattan where sprawling upscale shops and hip cafes are common scenery. His affinity for excellent clothing is derived from the Saville Row suits he received from his father during his late adolescence. Having studied and lived most of his years in the south of France, Quinn, who hailed from London, is touted to have had a major contribution to the resurgence of men’s tailoring in the USA thanks to his somewhat jaunty, slim-fitting suits that have come to define his line. In this new video prepared by Drop Culture, Duncan Quinn shares some interesting information about his brand as he talks about the finest fabrics, some inspirations and how he adapts to every customer’s personality to create a first-rate, bespoke suit.
