PES 2013 Official Game Trailer

Once the king of the hill for soccer games, Konami‘s PES/Winning 11 has seen stiff competition in the last few years at the hands of EA Sports’ FIFA franchise. Looking to once again establish itself as the top dog, a trailer emerges for PES 2013. Combining fluid gameplay with precision controls, the trailer provides some strong visuals. Marquee players are presented in fine form including arguably soccer’s most disliked maestro – Barton aside – Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Real Madrid pair Cristiano Ronaldo and Kaka, wonderkid Neymar and Atletico Mineiro’s latest signing, Ronaldinho. Despite the realism of the game, FIFA 13 may have trumped PES with its new in-game feature which allows voice commands to be used to argue ref calls. The Chance – A Search for the Best Amateur Players

In conjunction with Nike Football, Manager Pep Guardiola of F.C. Barcelona launches “The Chance” 2012 – “a unique global football talent search that gives young amateur footballers from around the world the chance to prove themselves on an elite stage and take their game to the highest level.. On an-other level“

Over the next six months, Guardiola is looking to give the brightest amateur players, 16 and older, the opportunity to play at some of the leading football facilities in the world, showcasing their talent in front of Nike coaches and mentors, with one goal – to get noticed. After narrowing the applicants to a field of 100, the players will take part in an intense training and competition schedule in Barcelona, while being evaluated by a world-class team of coaches and scouts.

From there, the best 16 footballers will be chosen to experience the ultimate four-week training tour, taking on some of the most renowned academy teams in the world, including Manchester United and the U.S. Youth National Team. Players can register themselves, and their teams, by building a “team page” on “The Chance” app, which is available via the Nike Football Facebook page.

Nike scouts will then select teams to visit and watch them play, with the hopes of spotting talented individuals and rewarding them with an entry to their local country final. Running alongside this unique talent showcase, is a competition that recognizes and celebrates emerging talent within the creative industry. Young photographers and filmmakers from across the globe are encouraged to participate in the competition, working with creative mentors from Nike, and ambassador for the project, the film director, writer, producer and actor, Spike Lee

Nike Soccer: Ronaldo R9 Pra Sempre Fenomeno

Earlier this year, the soccer world said its fairwells to one of the most dynamic and generation-defining players ever as Brazilian attacker Ronaldo hung up his boots for good. Battling injury and fitness issues up until his retirement, a player of Ronaldo’s stature undoubtedly gained a wealth of support and respect through countless contributions to club and country. Paying tribute to the player in June, he was able to make a 15-minute appearance versus Romania as a last chance to capture some of the irreplaceable nationalistic pride and excitement that comes with pulling on the iconic yellow kit. Nike Soccer captured the whole night through a short film that includes the striker’s own thoughts and some appearances from a new crop of superstars, including Neymar.

Leo Messi – FIFA World Player of the Year 2011

FC Barcelona’s Lionel Messi has taken home his third straight FIFA World Player of the Year Award, cementing his legacy at the ripe old age of 24. Messi received the Ballon d’Or for 2011, beating out club teammate Xavi Hernandez and Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo. The only other three-time winners in the history of the beautiful game are Ronaldo (1996-97, 2002) and Zinedine Zidane (1998, 2000, 2003). Messi scored 55 goals in 2011 for Barcelona, which won its third Champions League title in six seasons and four goals for Argentina’s national team.

Juventus Football Club S.p.A. announces that the agreement with Hamburger Sport-Verein e.V. for the definitive acquisition of the registration rights of the Dutch player Eljero Elia has been finalized.

Y-3 Interviews with Yohji Yamamoto & Zinedine Zidane

NOWNESS recently interviewed Y-3 creative head Yohji Yamamoto and long-time adidas and Y-3 endorsed athlete Zinedine Zidane as a pre-cursor to the unveiling of a new Yamamoto documentary. The documentary focuses on Yamamoto in a run-up to his 2010 fall/winter showing. Y-3 has come to represent one of the greatest examples of fashion meets sportswear through the proper appropriation of footwear and apparel. A selection of answers are seen below.

Yohji Yamamoto

How would you describe Y-3 as a collaborative project?
Distant DNA got married and had a successful baby. You have to [treat] Y-3 [like it is] an independent human. In that way the brand already has its own character.

How does the collaborative process between you and Adidas work?
Adidas is a very personal inspiration to me. It has enriched my creative life. Both teams are in constant contact and communicate continuously. There are many meetings to develop the collection together. It’s an important exchange between different cultures and different ideas.

Do your catwalk collections inspire Y3, and vice versa?
Both sides are a totally free and creative process, the two worlds are parallel.


Zinedine Zidane

You’ve been with Adidas for most of your career. What appealed to you about Y-3?
It’s a natural extension, as I’d worn Adidas on the pitch for performance for so many years. Adidas had this genius and subtle idea of bringing sports into fashion with Y-3, and they managed this fusion perfectly.

You took to the catwalk for Y-3’s SS10 collection––how was that?
It was a special moment because on this same day I was able to meet Yohji Yamamoto. I’d never done anything like that before in the past. For me it was something completely new but exciting.

Have you kept any memorabilia or jerseys from your footballing days?
I gave a lot away but I kept some key ones. I still have my jersey from the 1998 World Cup final with Brazil, and the gold and white Predators [Adidas football boots] I was wearing at the 2006 World Cup that were created specially for me. If I’d listened to my friends I would have nothing left!

What is your average day like now that you’ve finished playing professionally?
Everyday I’m training a little and that’s why I wear Y-3. I want to be fit for life.

FIFA BALLON D'OR 2010 WINNER

Argentina and Barcelona forward Lionel Messi won FIFA's Ballon d'Or award on Monday as the world's best player of 2010.

Messi won the trophy for a second straight year, finishing ahead of Barcelona teammates Andres Iniesta and Xavi Hernandez.

"It's a very special day for me," Messi said through a translator on receiving the award at a gala ceremony in FIFA's home city.

The 23-year-old Messi helped an exciting Barcelona team retain its Spanish league title and lead the standings again this season.

Messi's trademark tricky play was often mesmerizing and he scored 58 goals for the Catalan club in 2010. However, he had a disappointing World Cup in South Africa, failing to score. Iniesta and Xavi, by comparison, starred for eventual winner Spain.

"I didn't expect to win it today," Messi said. "Already it's a source of happiness to be here with my friends and even more to win it."

Messi obtained 22.65 percent of the votes cast by coaches and captains of national teams plus invited journalists. The original shortlist featured 23 players.

Andres Iniesta finished second with 17.36 percent and Xavi received 16.48 percent to finish third for the second straight year.

All three candidates learned their craft at Barcelona's La Masia youth academy.
